Niceol Blue is a singer, songwriter, storyteller, writer, and improvisor, living and working in the West of Ireland. As a singer and songwriter, she regularly performs solo and with bands in venues, on the street and at festivals worldwide including Bumbershoot, Folklife, Festival of Fires, Temple House Festival, Body & Soul Festival, Knockanstockan, Electric Picnic, Spirit of Folk, Green Village, Ranelagh Arts Festival, Spirit of Voice Festival, Joy in the Park, and the Irish Festival of Oulu, in Finland. She has produced one album, entitled ‘Rise’ (available here) and several single tracks (which you can listen to here).

Niceol is also a founding member of the Moth & Butterfly Storytelling collective, and has been regularly creating and telling stories since 2012, with Moth & Butterfly, The Moth & Butterfly Tellers, and as a solo teller. As well as at Moth & Butterfly events, Niceol has told stories at the Moth and Butterfly International Festival of Storytelling and Improvisation, at the International Literature Festival Dublin and Cúirt International Festival of Literature, and has participated in several other Storytelling festivals including Village Storytelling Festival in Glasgow, Sneem Storytelling Festival, and Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival.

As well as being a singer, songwriter and storyteller, Niceol is also an improvisor, (providing lights, digital sfx and scoring for the players on stage). Niceol is currently touring with the Improv and Science show ‘We Built This City on Rick and Coal’. She is also a founding member of The Spontaneous Theatre People, a Galway-Based Improv theatre group, the musical member for the improv duo ‘Which is Which’, and was a long-time member of ‘Wingin’ It!’, a long-running Galway Improv Showcase, as well as having been the technical director for Improv Fest Ireland. Niceol is also a sometimes DJ, and a poet and writer, with several published works of poetry, some of which you can read here.
